The Montgomery County Tax-Aide program expresses its gratitude to Acuity Scheduling, Inc. for its donation of the Acuity Scheduling software being used in our central scheduling office this year. We expect the use of this software will simplify the scheduling process for both our volunteers and the taxpayers we serve.
Please read before making an appointment. The Montgomery County RSVP/AARP Tax-Aide program is for persons who reside in or work in Montgomery County. We can do only relatively simple tax returns. For example, we cannot do your return if you have income from a rental property, a K-1 with anything other than interest, dividends, capital gains, and royalties, or a Schedule C with a loss or with expenses exceeding $25,000 or want to claim a home office. In addition to Federal taxes, we can prepare taxes for Maryland, but not for other states.
To make sure you have a return that is within the scope of the AARP Tax-Aide program, please see the AARP flyer at: AARP Flyer before scheduling your appointment.
You must bring your 2017 Federal and state returns, all documents for this year, including health insurance information, social security cards for yourself and all dependents, and photo IDs for the taxpayer and spouse if on the return. For a more complete list of the documents to bring, go to: www.montgomerycountymd.gov/taxaide. If it will be a joint return, both husband and wife need to be at the appointment.
Clients may schedule appointments for more than one person, but there must be a separate appointment for each client in the individual client's name. The same phone number and e-mail address can be used for all the appointments.
We will do taxes only for 2016, 2017, and 2018, and a separate appointment is needed for each year.
You will receive email appointment confirmation and reminder messages after booking your appointment so please enter your email address correctly. Be sure to check your SPAM or similar folder if you do not see your messages. Additionally, be sure to keep these messages as they contain a link you can use to change or cancel your appointment. To change or cancel you appointment, you also can call the scheduling office at 240-777-2577. Multiple appointments made directly by taxpayers and without an explanation in the “Note” field will be deleted.
